Timmy's Dance is the story of a young boy’s journey to Broadway. Little Timmy Grace lives in Harlem, New York. It’s 1945 and times are hard for his family. Never the less, Timmy has a positive attitude and this young man loves to dance.
Casting directors are running out of time and need an African American boy to fill a role to dance with the Legendary Bill "Bojangles" Robinson in a Broadway show. Meanwhile on the other side of town, is an 8 year old youngster living a desolate life as he wonders when he will see his father again. Timmy's Dance is a musical production based on the true story of the late Timothy Robert Grace. |

The following roles are available:
The following roles are available:
- Timmy: Lead. 8 - 12 years old. African American. Young Timmy is a natural dancer and must be able to sing and act. Must have a charismatic personality and joyful, optimistic nature.
- Dorothy: Timmy’s mother. African American. Very strong-willed mother trying to keep her household together. Must be able to give an emotional performance from pain to praise. Must have a strong singing voice and dancing skills.
- Edna: Timmy’s sister. African American. Mild mannered young girl that supports her younger brother and loves to watch him dance.
- Bill “Bojangle” Robinson: 30 years old. Tap dancing legend. Must be able to tap dance, sing, and act like the legendary performer. Must wear low cut hair close to the scalp.
- Skippy: 8 - 12 years old. African American.Timmy’s friend.
- Mable: Dorothy’s friend/neighbor. Smart, wise, and straightforward, true friend. Must be able to sing.
- Gus: Timmy’s father. African American. Rough around the edges, has a drinking problem. Must be able to sing with emotion.
- Preacher: African American. Vibrant personality, good singer, good speaker.
- Producer: White. Eager businessman, focused on getting the right person for the show.
- Casting Director 1: Energetic get it done kind of guy.
- Casting Director 2: Second guesser, businessman.
- Assistant: Latinx/Italian/Asian. Cute and fun.
